We sing a combination of upbeat songs and ballads - which include popular barbershop favorites, Broadway show tunes and patriotic music, that's a refreshing alternative to classical music. Sweet Adeline chorus and quartets perform four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style. This style of music lends itself to songs from any era - today's ballads, popular show tunes, jazz and even rock. The Voice of the Desert Chorus has performed this unique style of music in a number of venues including competing every spring here in Phoenix where we have placed very well in our Division.

Under the guidance of our directors, chorus members develop individual vocal production skills and polish a varied repertoire of contemporary favorites, ballads, swing tunes, patriotic medleys and holiday carols. At rehearsals we hone our skills and polish repertoire and may choose to participate in Regional and International Educational Workshops for additional training in vocal production, choreography, music arranging, choral directing, administration and leadership.

The Voice of the Desert Chorus opens its membership through audition, to women aged 18 and older. They represent varied walks of life in all corners of the Valley. All are busy women who make time to share their gift of song and contribute to the arts in our community. Our membership reflects a diversity of age and lifestyle yet share a common interest in the joy of singing that promotes friendship and harmony.

Throughout the year, the chorus and its quartets perform at various public and private venues in the community and organize one or more shows for the enjoyment of friends, family and neighbors. We are accepting engagements throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

We are available to perform our exciting repertoire, complete with vibrant costumes and entertaining MC work. Show lengths are flexible and ensembles are available, ranging from quartets to a "mini-chorus" to the full chorus. Holiday music programs and Holiday-Grams are also available.
